Cobb and Co Museum

Freeman Cobb, John Murray Peck, James Swanton and John Lamber, were Cobb and Co.

These four Americans established a stagecoach company in Victoria in the 1850s. The company halved the travelling times of their competitors on almost every route that they ran. It is after this company and these men, that Toowoomba's Cobb and Co Museum is named.

Home to the National Carriage Collection, the Cobb and Co Museum is a record of horse-drawn vehicles that were used in Australia during this time. Including farm wagons, hawkers barrows, buggies and delivery carts, the National Carriage Collection is Australia's finest collection of vehicles from the horse-drawn era.

The Cobb and Co Museum also has displays regarding the natural and cultural history of Toowoomba and the surrounding area as well as conducting research and conservation relating to horse-drawn vehicles. The Museum also aims to retain the skills of this period through education programs and heritage trade workshops. Skills such as Blacksmithing, Calligraphy, Felting and Leatherwork are taught.

Providing an insight into the history of Toowoomba for visitors to the city as well as a wealth of knowledge and information regarding horse-drawn vehicles, the Cobb and Co Museum truly plays an important role in preserving and sharing Toowoomba's heritage.

The Museum has a coffee shop, an interactive play area for children and a gift shop with a range of Australian made items as well as educational games and books.

The Cobb and Co Museum should be on your families list of things to do while in Toowoomba and is an attraction that can be enjoyed throughout the year.
