Bordered by the train line to the north as well as Mort, Hogg, Barlow and Boundary Streets, Cranley covers 9.3 square kilometres. Home to just 725 people, Cranley has a very low density of just 78 people per square kilometre. Over the next few years, the area north of Hermitage Road may become more industrial with its proximity to the train line as well as the Wetalla Wastewater Treatment Plant. The second range crossing is also proposed to go through the northern part of this suburb.Cranley is home to the largest proportion of males of any suburb in Toowoomba, with 54.6 per cent of the population being male.
