Recycling
Recycling in Toowoomba is primarily undertaken through fortnightly curbside collection. The following materials can be placed in your recycling bin for collection: glass bottles and jars, aluminium and steel cans, paper products (newspapers, magazines, office paper, phone books, cardboard),envelopes without plastic windows, clean pizza boxes, egg cartons, andmilk and juice cartons. Please remember to remove lids from containers and rinse them before adding them to your recycling bin. For steel tins, place the metal lid inside and squeeze the top together so people don't cut themselves.
You can also recycle any bottle marked with one of the following symbols:

The following items should not be placed in your recycling bin: plastic bags, polystyrene foam, ceramics, pyrex glass, ovenware, cups, plates, wine and drinking glasses, mirrors, window glass, light bulbs, nappies, syringes, kitty litter, rocks, garden waste, dead animals and general dirt. These items could potential hurt someone while they sort the recycling and should never be placed in your recycling bin. These items may also make the entire collection of recycling from your neighbourhood too dangerous to sort, and therefore, it may be dumped in landfill.
The Toowoomba City Council has also made an effort to help residents recycle electronic waste, or e-waste. Twice a year, the council accepts e-waste from residents. Look in the Council News section of the local newspaper for information on when the next e-waste recycling day is on, or check back here.
